Neighbourhood Plan

Are You Interested in Helping to Develop a Neighbourhood Plan for Instow?

Since April 2012, local communities have been able to produce Neighbourhood Plans for their local area, putting in place planning policies for the future development and growth of the neighbourhood.

It is about the use and development of land and may contain a vision, aims, planning policies, proposals for improving the area or providing new facilities, or allocation of key sites for specific kinds of development. However any Plan must not promote less development than that identified in the development plan for the local area.

As a precautionary measure Instow Parish Council has recently had the Parish of Instow designated as a “Neighbourhood Area” It has done this to prevent any neighbouring communities from including Instow in a wider Neighbourhood Plan which could detrimentally affect the future of the parish.

The Parish Council having considered the level of skills and resources needed to produce a full Plan has decided it is unable to proceed with the development of a Neighbourhood Plan for Instow at this time.

However, an option exists to create a Neighbourhood Forum for the Parish of Instow to lead the development of a Neighbourhood Plan. The forum would comprise of at least twenty one people who would need to reflect the “inclusivity, diversity and character of the area”

For more information on what would be involved in joining the Neighbourhood Forum please contact the Parish Clerk – Roger Levick on:-

A public meeting will be called to progress matters if enough residents express an interest in joining a Neighbourhood Forum for the Parish of Instow.
